SPRING TOURNAMENT SELECTION

During the spring your team will participate in 5 basketball tournaments. These tournaments are either local Long Island tournaments or travel. You and your team will decide what works best.

Q & A

Q: How many players do I need on my LI Focus basketball team? A: There is an 8 player roster minimum and a suggested maximum of 10 players.

Q: When do I receive my coaches pay? A: Upon completion of the season you will receive a check.

Q: I have a kid playing on a team and I volunteer to help assistant coach when necessary. Does my kid play for free? A: 1 Assistant coach per team with a participating player qualifies for 1/2 OFF fee on cost of participation.

FREE Coaches Education For All AAU Non-Athletes

*Mandatory for Coaches. All registered coaches will take this free course as part of gaining membership into the AAU. The AAU is proud to be a leader in the youth sports market and looks forward as being the trendsetter in coach education in years to come.

This Double-Goal Coach training program will give all team administrators, club directors, and coaches the tools they need to help youth athletes improve. PCA's online course is filled with powerful coaching tools that are based on the latest research in sports psychology and reflect the "best practices" of elite coaches and athletes, including such PCA National Advisory Board Members as 11-time NBA Champion Coach Phil Jackson, Past NBA Champion Coach Doc Rivers, retired NFL Head Coach Herm Edwards, Olympic Gold Medal Gymnast Bart Conner, Olympic Gold Medalist and former WNBA star Ruthie Bolton and Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Summer Sanders, just to name a few.

Everyone will enjoy the interactive video and audio segments, featuring many of these top coaches and athletes, throughout the course modules. Course users who achieve an 80% score on the quiz at the end of the course will receive a completion certificate. After completing the Level 1 of the coaches' education program, participants will be able to complete Level 2 and Level 3 courses in subsequent years.
