About Coach Joe Stern

Coach Joe Stern is an experienced competitive basketball coach and trainer in his 5th year at Northsport. His youth experience covers boys and girls of all skill levels, ages ranging from 7 years old through high school.  

As a high shool player, Joe Stern starred at the prestigious NY Military Academy in upstate NY where he earned all league honors and a championship! He went on to play his college ball at SUNY New Paltz.

A passion for both the game and personal development, Coach Stern prides himself in creating skilled players and even better people. Players will see a dramatic improvement in not only their shooting and ballhandling, but goal setting, self discipline, confidence and positive outlook.


About Coach Shannon White

Shannon has been around the game of basketball for the majority of her life. At a young age, she began playing basketball for CYO and AAU. From 2008-2012 she played for Saint Anthony’s High School and in her junior year she was a member of the Long Island team that competed in the Empire State Games.

She continued her basketball career at SUNY Cortland from 2012-2016 where she was a captain her senior year.  While at SUNY Cortland, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Health.  Currently, Shannon is continuing her education at LIU Post and pursing a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Shannon is entering her second year as the head coach of the Junior Varsity girls’ basketball team at Saint John the Baptist High School.  Currently, Shannon is entering her second year of coaching for Long Island Lightning. Shannon is also taking part in the 2017 Alzheimer’s All Star game as an assistant coach for the Suffolk County girls’ team.

Additionally, Shannon has been training athletes individually and directing group workouts to help improve their skills. She is eager to help young athletes see their full potential both on and off the court.
