2nd Annual Presidents Week Camp

Basketball Camp - Grades 3-8

NorthSport will host its 2nd Annual Presidents Week Basketball Camp for boys and girls Grades 3-8. The camp is designed for players of all abilities with emphasis on offensive and defensive skill development, ball handling, shooting, player movement and 1 on 1 moves. Camp will also include controlled games to reinforce skills learned. NorthSport Presidents Week Camp will be run by former St Dominic HS Coach Rob Pavinelli and a staff including experienced High School and AAU coaches.

• DATES: February 20,21,22, 23 and 24th (5 Days)
• GRADES: 3,4,5 - 9am to 12pm
• GRADES: 6, 7, 8 - 12:30pm to 3:30pm
• CAMP COST: $175.00 for all 5 days - $15 a day savings
• WALK-IN COST: $50.00 per day

Dan Trant Classic

Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament

The 2nd Annual Dan Trant Classic boys and girls AAU Tournaments will be held this spring at NorthSport to honor the memory of Dan Trant, who passed away on 9/11/01. Trant was a Division 3 All-American at Clark University who was drafted by his beloved Boston Celtics. He played several years in the USBL and overseas in Ireland.

He was, however, best known for the countless hours he volunteered in his community teaching kids the game of basketball. His passion and love for kids was unsurpassed. He coached teams in CYO, Town Leagues and AAU for the Long Island Lightning. Dan not only taught the game of basketball, but his character, commitment and the example he set as a father to his 3 children was an inspiration to everyone.

We are keeping Dan Trant’s memory alive by hosting a tournament in his name. Our goal is to continue to pass on the message that he conveyed to all the players who had an opportunity to play for him.

• *AAU Season begins in March and continues into June
• *2 Guaranteed Practices per week for each Lightning Team at NorthSport beginning in Mid-March
• *Fees per Lightning Team vary depending on amount of Tournaments
• *Generally around $650 per Player (includes uniforms, tournament fees, equipment, insurance and practices)

9th Grade - Monday, February 20th - 6:30pm to 7:45pm

10th Grade - Wednesday, February 22nd - 5:30pm to 7pm

11th Grade - Thursday, February 23rd - 6:30pm to 7:45pm

Mini Hoopsters Basketball

Spring 2012 Clinic

Basketball Clinic for Boys and Girls 2-5th Grade

Mini Hoopsters is designed to teach the most basic fundamentals of the game to it's youngest players. It's purpose is to help children learn to love the game whhile developing skills that will provide them with a foundation to build upon as they grow as athletes. Teaching techniques using lower baskets, age appropriate basketball and other equipment throughout workout. The clinic features specialized instruction from a veteran coaching staff with over 20 years of experience coaching players from middle school to the college level.

• Essentials of Shooting
• Hand, Eye Coordination

Choose either Tuesdays or Thursdays 4:15pm-5:30pm

Tuesdays - March: 13,20,27 April: 3,17,24 May: 1,8 for a total of 8 Sessions

Thursdays - March: 15,22,29 April: 5,19,26 May: 3,10 for a total of 8 Sessions
